Our grandparents (Jessica's great grandparents), Nonno Gelindo and Nonna Marie cooked the true Italian way. Everything was made from scratch using only the freshest ingredients possible.
Here at Bertoldi's in London, our oven-baked bread, homemade specialty pastas and all of our sauces are made fresh, right on the premises.
We want to give Londoners a taste of Italy in a simple surrounding. So come in, sit at our table and break bread with us, just as you would have had you been over to Gelindo's and Marie's for supper or lunch.

2008 ELVIO COGNO DOLCETTO D'ALBA "VIGNA DEL MANDORLO" (PIEMONTE) ~ Medium-bodied, with deep smoky aromas and flavours of cherry, plum and red licorice. Nice balancing acidity and well-integrated tannins. 12 / 18 / 47

2006 ZENATO VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE RIPASSA (VENETO) ~ Medium-bodied with a good long finish. Deep, dark colour and complex aromas and flavours of black berries, raisins, rich chocolate, and a touch of licorice. Nice ripe tannins. 12 / 18 / 47

2007 ELVIO COGNO MONTEGRILLI LANGHE ROSSO (PIEMONTE) ~ A blend of Nebbiolo (of Barolo fame) and Barbera. Clean and bright-ruby core. The nose is deep with dark fruit aromas, wild berries, plums and dark raspberries with a delicate violet, spice, and vanilla notes. On the palate the wine is balanced, full bodied with an elegant finish. 15 / 20 / 55

2006 LA LECCIAIA ROSSO DI TOSCANA (TOSCANA) ~ Medium-bodied, smooth and well balanced. Nice aromas and flavours of dark cherries and spices. Our restaurant secret, this 100% Sangiovese is actually de-classified Brunello. 11 / 15 / 42

2007 POGGIO BARBONE MORELLINO DI SCANSANO (TOSCANA) ~ Medium-bodied. A blend of 90% Morellino and 10% Merlot. Morellino is the local name for Sangiovese - the same grape used in Chianti - from around the town of Scansano in southwest Tuscany. Deep ruby in colour, with aromas and flavours of dark red fruits - black cherry and plum - with subtle spice notes. A nice smooth finish. 12 / 18 / 47

2007 LA LECCIAIA ROSSO DI MONTALCINO (TOSCANA) ~ Medium to full-bodied, with aromas of dark cherries, smoke and spices. Similar to a Brunello but with one year less aging before release. 12 / 18 / 47

2006 POGGIO AMORELLI CHIANTI CLASSICO (TOSCANA) ~ Full-bodied. Deep and dark in colour with aromas of plum and cherry. Excellent length and quality on the finish.12 / 18 / 47

2008 VINICOLA MEDITERRANEA SALENTO ROSSO "DON VITO" (PUGLIA) ~ Medium-bodied, this blend of 60% Negroamaro and 40% Primitivo (two indigenous Italian grapes) is packed with juicy fruit aromas and flavours of cherry and dark plums. 2006 MASCIARELLI MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO (ABRUZZO) ~ Medium-bodied, with aromas and flavours of cherry, raspberry, blackberry and leather. Good fruit on a long finish. 9 / 13 / 38

2007 FONDO ANTICO NERO D'AVOLA (SICILY) ~ Nero d'Avola is the classic Sicilian red-wine grape. Medium-bodied, full ripe dark plum aromas and flavours with notes of dark cherry and chocolate. Smooth tannins and a nice full lingering finish. 11 / 15 / 42

2007 FONDO ANTICO SYRAH (SICILY) ~ This fuller-bodied wine has aromas and flavours of smokey blackberry fruit with hints of spice. A rich finish with well integrated tannins. 11 / 15 / 42

2005 VINICOLA MEDITERRANEA PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA (PUGLIA) ~ Primitivo is the Italian version of the Zinfandel grape. A rich, medium-bodied wine full of dark ripe fruit flavours and aromas with notes of mocha and spice. Medium tannins, with a full and long finish. 11 / 15 / 42

2004 ELVIO COGNO BAROLO RAVERA (PIEMONTE) ~ A top Barolo Cru. Awarded the top Tre Bicchieri award in 2008 from Gambero Rosso. Rich and elegant with complex aromas and flavours of dark raspberries, blackberry and red licorice, with soft notes of truffle and dark chocolate emerging as the wine opens up in the glass. Smooth and full with just the right balance of tannins on the finish. 85

2004 GEOFF MERRILL RESERVE SHIRAZ (MCLAREN VALE, AUSTRALIA) ~ Great Australian Shiraz Trophy winner 2006. Selected from the individual parcels of outstanding fruit, and aged in small French and American oak barrels for 30 months, this deep, dark, full-bodied wine has aromas and flavours of dark plum and licorice with notes of mocha and vanilla. The tannins are smooth and harmonious, and the finish is long. 80
